Ten weeks ago I began sampling different produce delivery services in the Bay Area. I have tried one box per week, and I finally got to the end - the point where I can share my ranking!
Good Eggs is a one stop shop for local groceries, selling everything from produce, dairy, animal proteins, beverages, snacks, flowers, and prepared meals. They also work with three farms (Full Belly, Say Hay and Eatwell), selling their produce boxes.
My research led me to Albert & Eve, an online marketplace that offered a variety of locally made products, which unfortunately also led me to a sub-par and confusing experience.
Say Hay Farms grows seasonal produce harvested from sustainable farming practices, and raise hens that produce eggs filled with nutrition and flavor, achieved through proper feeding and breeding techniques.
I researched a family-owned local farm located in Half Moon Bay and read that receiving a Greenhearts produce box is like “getting the best of the farmer’s market delivered right to your door”.
Environmental sustainability is their mission, and customization is the name of the game.
Eatwell Farm made note of the fact that CSA programs may be daunting for the receiver. They included a variety of recipes to sift through plus storage tips to lengthen the life of my produce.
The communication at Full Belly Farm was top notch. As a new CSA subscriber I received a phone call from a member of the farm. This established a point of contact and a more tangible relationship moving forward with the program.
This produce box delivered variety! Plus, this CSA program is perfect for the meat lover.
The brand message was bold and clear on the website: Love and Care Is In Our Roots. I got to building my produce box for my Golden Gate Organics review.
